Terms of Service

Verantis is a free, neutral, informational service. These terms explain what it is, what it is not, and the basis on which you may use it.

Last updated: 18 August 2026 · Effective: 18 August 2026

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Verantis website, directory, public API, MCP server, data, and related services (together, the "Service"), operated by Verantis ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the Service — including by querying the API or connecting an agent via the MCP server — you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You may use the Service on behalf of an organization or an automated agent you operate; in that case you confirm you are authorized to accept these Terms for it, and "you" includes that organization or agent.

2. What Verantis is — and is not

Verantis is an informational directory and reputation layer for machine-payable services across payment rails (such as x402 and MPP). We probe listed services, read public on-chain settlement data, and publish measurements and reputation signals derived from public sources.

Verantis is not a party to any payment or transaction between you, an agent, and any listed service; not a broker, dealer, exchange, custodian, wallet, or payment processor; not an escrow or settlement provider; and not a financial, investment, legal, or tax adviser. We do not hold funds, execute payments, or facilitate transactions. Any decision to pay, transact with, or rely on any service or wallet is yours alone.

3. No advice; your decisions

All content, classifications, tiers, scores, prices, and other output are provided for general informational purposes only and do not constitute financial, investment, legal, tax, or other professional advice, or a recommendation to pay, transact with, or avoid any service, wallet, or counterparty. You are solely responsible for your own decisions and for independently verifying anything before acting on it. Do not use the Service as your sole basis for moving money.

4. Nature of ratings and classifications

Reputation tiers (such as "established", "building", "watch", "new", or "inactive"), concentration signals, and similar labels are measured signals and our opinions based on public data — not statements of fact about any operator's conduct, quality, solvency, or intentions. They describe what our probes and on-chain reads observed at a point in time and can change between checks.

In particular: "watch" means a signal worth a second look, never an accusation; "inactive" means a service did not return a valid payment response at the last probe, a measured state at a point in time and not a permanent judgment; and "concentration" (many listings under one registrable owner) is a neutral grouping metric — a legitimate multi-API provider looks the same as padding — and is never an allegation of wrongdoing. Absence of observable on-chain activity is reported as such, not as a negative judgment about a service.

5. The Service is provided "as is"; no warranty

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service or its data will be accurate, complete, current, reliable, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any defect will be corrected. Data may be delayed, incomplete, mislabeled, or wrong; probes and on-chain reads are point-in-time observations that can change or fail. We disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

The Service is free and offered without any service-level commitment. We may change, suspend, degrade, rate-limit, or discontinue any part of it at any time without notice or liability.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event will Verantis, its operators, contributors, or suppliers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, funds, digital assets, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your access to or use of (or inability to use) the Service or its data — including any payment made or withheld, or any transaction entered into, in reliance on the Service — whether based in contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise, and whether or not we were advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the total amount you paid us to use the Service in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim — which, because the Service is provided free of charge, is zero U.S. dollars (US$0). Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages or liabilities (such as those arising from fraud, gross negligence, or death or personal injury caused by negligence); nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, and in such cases our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.

7. Acceptable use

You may access the public directory, API, and MCP server for lawful purposes, including having an agent check services and wallets before paying. You must not, and must not enable others to:

We may set and change rate limits and may suspend or block any client, IP, or install that we reasonably believe is abusing the Service, at our discretion and without notice.

8. Data, recomputability, and intellectual property

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to access and use the Service and its output for your own internal and lawful purposes — including having your agent check services and wallets before paying. This licence does not include any right to resell, sublicense, white-label, proxy, re-host, or charge third parties for access to the Service or its compiled output, nor to build a competing directory or reputation product from our compiled output; each of those requires a separate written commercial licence from us. Contact us if you want one.

Verantis findings are derived from public sources (live payment probes and public on-chain records) via a disclosed, reproducible methodology, and our dataset is periodically anchored to Bitcoin so its timing can be independently checked. You are welcome to independently recompute our findings from those same public sources; this is core to our neutrality.

As between you and us, the Verantis compilation, arrangement, editorial labels, scoring, software, website, and brand (including the name "Verantis", logos, and marks) are our property or licensed to us, and are protected by applicable laws. Except for the limited use permitted above, no rights are granted. Underlying public facts and on-chain data are not owned by anyone; our particular expression, selection, and arrangement of them is.

9. Third-party services and links

The Service lists and links to third-party services and on-chain addresses operated by others. We do not control, endorse, or assume responsibility for any third party, its content, availability, pricing, security, or conduct. Listing is not endorsement, and inclusion or a tier does not imply any relationship between us and the listed party. Your dealings with any third party are solely between you and that party.

10. Changes to the Service and to these Terms

We may modify the Service or these Terms at any time. If we make material changes to these Terms, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where practical, note it on the site. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause or notice. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 3–9, 12, and 13) will survive.

12. Governing law and disputes

Verantis's operating entity and governing jurisdiction are being finalized. The specific governing law and venue will be stated in this section once that entity is established, and we will update the "Last updated" date accordingly. In the meantime, nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer or data-protection rights you have under the laws of your place of residence, and any dispute will be handled reasonably and in good faith.

13. Miscellaneous

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a transfer of the Service.
